Alright everyone, get ready for one big, news-packed, summer update/fall preview email!

First on the agenda is the fall cross country schedule. At the bottom of this post is a list with all the meets we've been able to think of. If I've missed any meets that any of you might be interested in attending please let me know and I can add them to the schedule. I think we should focus on having strong showings at certain meets and get used to racing as a team. But other than that, I'm all for putting everything on the schedule and giving everyone the opportunity to race the weekends that are best for them.

Also note that we are planning on repeating the post-Parkside camping trip again this year, as it seems like everyone who went last year really enjoyed it. If you think you might be interested in camping out after UW-Parkside (the night of September 19th) send me an email (jjberg2[@]wisc.edu) so we can get a rough estimate and know how many campsites we need to reserve.

Shifting gears to focus on one specific aspect of the Cross Country season, those of you who have either read the latest Moosletter or visited NIRCA's website are aware that WTC has been named the host of the 2009 NIRCA Midwest Regional Championships. The event will be held on October 24th at WTC's home cross country course at Pope Farm Park. Yes, it's a tough course (in fact, it's absolutely ridiculous), but we've run it before, whereas most other clubs haven't, so we ought to be prepared (i.e. you should all be getting used to running hills about now). We're expecting 200+ competitors for the event, so it's going to take a little more on all our parts than last year's meet did. If you'd like to help out with the planning stages yet this summer shoot me an email.

And of course, three weeks later on Saturday, November 14th (mark your calendars) will be the NIRCA National Championships hosted by the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. If you haven't seen it yet, NIRCA has a preview slideshow of the course, which is located on a golf course again this year. We will likely be leaving late in the morning or early in the afternoon on Friday, November 13th, so email your professors now to make sure you can miss any classes you have that day.

Last (but certainly not least!) on the program is the Capitol Mile. WTC is hosting the Capitol Mile this Sunday, July 26th on the Capitol Square in Madison, WI. We could still use a few more volunteers, so if you haven't already told either Paul Turpin or I that you are available to volunteer, please let me know ASAP. There will be a pre-event cookout at Klief Park (just south of Regent on Charter) at 6pm the night before (Saturday the 25th). If you haven't RSVP'd yet, shoot me an email to let me know you'll be there.

Hope you're all havin' a swell summer! See you in the fall.
