Congrats to all who competed at the NIRCA National Championships in
Ann Arbor, MI this weekend. Our Men's A squad took home the National
Title for the second year in a row, while the B squad demonstrated the
meaning of the word dominance, going 1-4 and scoring 19 points, just 4
short of a perfect score, and the Women's team improved to 4th place
this year, just 12 joints away from a trophy. We had 3 first team
NIRCA All-Americans and 2 second teamers on the men's side, plus one
first team NIRCA All-American on the women's side.

Wisconsin Track Club Update: Thanksgiving Edition!

I hope your all enjoying your Thanksgivings and a short break from classes. A week ago Wednesday the WTC held it's November meeting to wrap up the cross country season and turn our attention towards the upcoming indoor and outdoor track seasons, as well as club elections in December.
After getting input from club members over the past few weeks, and at the meeting last week, I think we're going to shoot for a little bit more "team unity" this track season than we have in the past. We'll plan on having the entire team meet briefly for a few minutes by the track before each group goes their separate way to start their workouts.
We will decide on exactly what time to meet at the December meeting, but I would like to get feedback beforehand from active club members to know what time everyone would prefer (e.g. 5:15, 5:30, 5:45, etc.). If you plan on attending practice regularly this winter and spring, please go to the following link and fill out the one question survey indicating your preferred times. Note that workouts for the distance crew will shift to Mondays and Wednesday as opposed to the Tuesdays and Thursdays typical of the Cross Country Season.
Click here to take the survey.
Additionally, there has been a lot of chatter at practices this semester about the desire for a new singlet design. As we are essentially out of singlets and need to reorder, this marks a perfect time to make a switch. If you have an idea or design for a new singlet, please send it to me, and we will consider all submitted designs at the December meeting and vote for which one we want (or to keep the old design, if that is what most people would prefer). Note that we cannot use the "motion W" (I have already looked into it), but we could use the Bucky's head logo.
As mentioned above, the December meeting will be our annual club elections. This meeting will take place at 7:15pm on Wednesday December 9th. The positions of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer are up for reelection every year. If you are interested in running for one of these positions please let me know by next Wednesday, December 2nd. Our current Treasurer, Gavin Hussey, will be studying abroad during the spring semester, so, while the other three elected officers are all interested in retaining their positions (last I heard) and those spots will remain filled even if there are no challengers, we will need someone to take over as Treasurer. We also need people to step up as meet entry coordinator and webmaster, among others, which are appointed positions, so if you're interested in getting more involved in making the WTC work, I'd strongly recommend coming to the December Meeting.
And lastly, there has been some chatter among club members about the idea of bidding to host NIRCA Nationals next year. I think this is a great idea, but we would need someone else (i.e. besides myself, Jade, or Ben Hoegh, who served as our Regionals planning committee this year) to step up and take the lead in submitting the bid and directing the race. This topic will be discussed at the meeting in December as well, so if you're interested in bringing NIRCA Nationals here, make sure you're there.
Let me know if you have any questions.

We will be holding our post season wrap-up meeting
this Wednesday, November 18th, at 7:15pm in Humanities 2111. We'll
take a look back at cross country season- discussing what we want to
continue to do in the future and what we may want to change- as well
as begin to turn our attention towards track season, with the first
indoor meets just two months away.
